Product Description
Pentair Triton TR140 12 in Filter Lateral 154540Z
The Pentair 154540Z is a genuine OEM 12 in lateral for Triton II TR140 and Triton C sand filters. Laterals distribute water evenly through the sand bed during filtering and backwashing; a cracked or broken lateral lets sand pass into the pool and clouds the water, and this precision-molded replacement restores proper flow and filtration.
🚩 PRO TIP: A TR140 uses eight laterals, and they age together — if one has cracked, inspect all eight while the filter is open and replace any with split slots or worn threads. The 154540Z is sold individually, so order the quantity your inspection calls for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Does the Pentair 154540Z lateral fit my filter? The Pentair 154540Z fits Pentair Triton II TR140, Triton TR140C, and Triton TR140C-3 sand filters. Check your filter model, and compare the 12 in length and 1-1/4 in MPT connection against the lateral you are replacing, before ordering.
- How many 154540Z laterals does a TR140 need? A Triton TR140 filter uses eight Pentair 154540Z laterals around the hub. The 154540Z is sold individually, so order eight for a full set.
- Why is sand getting into my pool? Sand in the pool, or cloudy water that backwashing does not clear, is the classic sign of a cracked or broken lateral. Replacing the damaged lateral — the Pentair 154540Z on TR140 filters — restores the sand bed's filtering and stops sand from passing into the return lines.
- Is the 154540Z the same part as the 154540? Yes. The Pentair 154540Z is the same 12 in Triton TR140 lateral that Pentair's Triton parts diagrams list as 154540, and it also cross-references catalog number 4600-4540.
