Product Description
Pentair 150085Z Extra-Long Lateral for Sand Dollar SD60 SD70 SD80 Filters

Sand blowing back into the pool is the classic sign of a cracked filter lateral. The Pentair 150085Z is the genuine extra-long black replacement lateral for Sand Dollar SD60, SD70, and SD80 sand filters with 22, 24, and 26 in. tanks. Its fine slots hold the sand bed inside the tank while filtered water passes to the standpipe, and it seats in the hub with a simple 1/4 turn. Laterals are sold individually and each filter uses six, so inspect the full set whenever the tank is open. This is a genuine Pentair part in retail (Z) packaging.

🚩 PRO TIP: When one 150085Z lateral has cracked, replace the full set of six while the sand is out — the remaining laterals are the same age, and the labor is in opening the filter, not in the parts. Fill the tank halfway with water before adding new sand so falling sand does not crack the laterals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • How many 150085Z laterals does my Sand Dollar filter need? The SD60, SD70, and SD80 use six 150085Z laterals per filter. They are sold individually, so order six for a complete set.
  • Will the 150085Z fit my SD35 or SD40? No. The SD35 and SD40 use the shorter 150084Z lateral; the 150085Z is the extra-long lateral for the SD60, SD70, and SD80.
  • Why is there sand in my pool? Sand returning to the pool most often means a cracked or broken lateral. Replace the damaged 150085Z laterals and check that the standpipe is seated correctly in the hub.
  • How do the laterals install? Each 150085Z seats in the filter hub with a 1/4 turn. No tools are required once the tank is open and the sand is removed.
