Jandy R0479400 Mechanical Shaft Seal 5/8" Carbon Ceramic PS-3890

The Jandy R0479400 is a genuine OEM mechanical shaft seal designed to create a reliable, waterproof barrier between the pool pump impeller and the motor, protecting internal bearings from costly water damage. If your pump is dripping from the underside of the seal plate, a worn shaft seal is the usual cause.

🚩 PRO TIP: Always replace your shaft seal whenever the impeller is removed, as disturbing the old seal almost guarantees a leak. Lubricate the rubber boot with water or silicone lubricant only — never use petroleum-based products.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

• Does this fit older Jandy Stealth pumps? The Jandy R0479400 5/8" seal fits Stealth pumps at serial number P08FF0001 and up. Older revisions (N and lower) with double-stepped shafts require the 13/16" ID seal instead.
• What does the cross-reference mean? The Jandy R0479400 directly replaces U.S. Seal part numbers PS-3890 and PS-4280.
• Why is my Jandy pump leaking from underneath? A drip from the underside of the seal plate usually means the mechanical shaft seal has worn out and is letting water past the motor shaft. Replacing it with the Jandy R0479400 stops the leak and protects the motor bearings from water damage.
